Veterans Service Commission
The Rock County Veteran Service Commission is a body mandated by state statute (Chapter 45.81) to exist in each Wisconsin county. The purpose of the VSC is to provide emergency assistance to veterans of Rock County and to family members of deceased veterans who reside in Rock County.

The Veterans Service Commission meets quarterly in the Janesville Courthouse. If you would like your voice heard or want to attend a meeting (COVID-19 pending) please contact our office. The next meeting is slated for January 11, 2023 at 3:00PM CST.
Emergency Assistance
Eligibility
- Rock County Resident for 90 days
- DD-214 with character of discharge of other than DISHONORABLE
- MUST be an emergency situation
Programs
- Veteran Service Commission
- Applicant is limited to THREE (3) applications and no more than $300 in a 12 month period
- Rock County Veterans Donation Trust
- Applicant is limited to ONE TIME ASSISTANCE which will not exceed $1,000
Types of Assistance
- Gas and/or Grocery Vouchers
- Hotel Stays
- Rental Assistance
- Other miscellaneous emergency situations
