Murwin County Park Brochure

Murwin County Park is located approximately 11 miles northwest from the City of Janesville. Take US Hwy 14 west from Janesville 6 miles and turn north on County Hwy H and go 5 miles north to the intersection of Caledonia Road. The main park picnic area and parking lot are located immediately off Caledonia Road.

This 40+ acre park encloses a substantial amount of the shoreline of the Yahara River at the Village of Fulton. The park is named for the Murwin family who donated a number of acres of land to the County for park purposes. Later acquisitions were made by Rock County when they purchased the Fulton Dam from the Wisconsin Power and Light Company. In 1993, Rock County removed Fulton Dam and restored the Yahara River to a free running condition.

Murwin Park provides excellent picnic areas on the Yahara River and is an excellent place to launch canoes to travel downstream on the Rock River to the City of Janesville's Traxler Park for take-out. This is also a good canoe and kayak take-out point for people paddling the Yahara River. The shoreline of the Yahara River within the park provides excellent fishing.

Murwin Park provides excellent bird-watching because of the low lands found within the park along the banks of the river. With each season, the flora and fauna of this county park bring changes that the visitor will truly enjoy.
