What is Communicable Disease?

Rock County Public Health Department's Communicable Disease Division monitors reportable conditions in our jurisdiction.

What do we do?

Our prevention, case investigation, and case management work helps to reduce the spread of diseases to others in the community. We also monitor trends in disease activity and prepare for different types of emergencies that could impact the health of those that live, work, learn and play in Rock County.

Why does it matter to Rock County?

Communicable diseases are spread from person to person, from animal to person, or from the environment to people. Our functions reduce the spread of illness in the community through prevention, education and hazard reduction. When someone is sick with a reportable condition, we work to ensure it doesn't spread to others and that the source of illness is eliminated so others don't get sick.
