DRIVE SAFE.     WORK SAFE.     SAVE LIVES.

There are many, many people who perform work on our highways to help Rock County residents, visitors, and passers-by get to their destinations safely. Highway & Construction Workers, Sheriff Deputies, Fire and EMS Personnel, Tow Truck Drivers, Utility Workers, and others, all provide services to enhance the safety of the traveling public. They perform this work for all of us.

RCSO and DPW

As an effort to raise awareness regarding the safety issues in work zones, the Rock County Department of Public Works has partnered with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office to get the word out. We appreciate you visiting our webpage and encourage you to read our press release, watch the Work Zone Safety Videos, participate in our coloring event, participate in “Go Orange Day,” and especially help get the word out.

 Activity & Coloring Event

Last year we started a coloring event.  We had nine participants, which all did a fantastic job with coloring their work zones!  We really enjoyed the colored pictures we received and they are still on display at our Main Shop.  Each participant was sent a certificate honoring them as an Active Member of our Work Zone Safety Team, and they each received a orange wristband to wear or display showing their support of work zone safety.

Go "ORANGE" Day

Wednesday, April 19, 2023, is “Go Orange Day,” in which people are asked to wear something orange in support of highway safety. Everyone is encouraged to submit pictures of themselves, their family, and their friends wearing orange to our office at highway@co.rock.wi.us and we will post them in the link below.  We also encourage people to spread the word and their photos through social media posts using the #OrangeForSafety hashtag, but please always refrain from using electronics while driving.
