Outdoor Warning System/Sirens

Activation of Sirens - Tornado Warning

• Steady tone of 3-5 minutes.
• Immediately take shelter as a tornado warning has been issued for Rock County or a sighting of a funnel cloud has been reported.
• Please do not call 911 to inquire about the siren. Tune to local radio stations: Beloit WGEZ AM 1490; Janesville WCLO AM 1230 or WJVL FM 99.9.
• There is no "All Clear" signal.

• Steady tone of 2 minutes
• Sirens are not tested when inclement weather is being experienced within the County.

Wisconsin Spill Law: Chapter 292.11 Wis. Stats, requires that a person who possesses or controls a hazardous substance or who causes the discharge of a hazardous substance shall notify the department immediately of any discharge not exempted by the statute.

By maintaining a FEMA-approved plan, all participating Rock County communities will maintain eligibility for federal disaster assistance and hazard mitigation funding.

The purpose of mitigation planning is to identify actions and policies that can reduce the risks and losses from future hazard events. Research shows that each federal grant dollar spent on mitigation saves an average of six dollars in future recovery costs.
