1. After you have filed your Civil Warrant with the Rock County Clerk of Courts, you are required to complete the Civil Warrant Worksheet in full.
   • All fields must be completed in order to process the Civil Warrant.
   • If you fail to complete the Civil Warrant Worksheet in full, the warrant will not be processed and will be returned to the persons requesting service.
2. File the warrant with the Clerk of Courts & deliver the following to the Rock County Sheriff's Office:
   • Civil Warrant Worksheet
   • Civil Warrant
   • Pre-payment of $65.00.
3. Once the subject is arrested, you will receive a Certificate of Service and an itemized billing statement via US Mail.

Arrest Warrant and Commitment (AWC)
A writ by the Court ordering that a defendant be arrested and detained until a fine is paid or discharged by due course of law.

Bench Warrant
A writ commanding the arrest of a defendant who did not appear for a scheduled court appearance.

Body Attachment
A writ commanding the arrest of a subject, often issued after a court-ordered fine or forfeiture has not been paid. Body Attachments may be issued in contempt, civil, or criminal family proceedings.

Capias
A writ commanding the arrest of a person, issued by a juvenile justice court.

Civil Forfeiture
Conduct punishable only by a forfeiture.

Crime
A violation of state law punishable by a fine, imprisonment, or both. Conduct punishable by a forfeiture is never a crime. (Wisconsin Statute 939.12)

Felony
A crime punishable by imprisonment in the Wisconsin state prisons.

Misdemeanor
A crime punishable by a maximum imprisonment of a year in the county jail (an exception exists for repeat offenders).

Order for Arrest
A writ commanding the arrest of a subject, which may be for contempt, but is always civil in nature.

Order for Commitment
A writ commanding the arrest of a defendant who has been previously committed to the county jail.

Warrant
A writ commanding the arrest of a subject alleging, a crime or civil forfeiture violation. The warrant should be accompanied by a copy of the complaint.

Writ
An instrument conveying notice of action directed by a Court.
