HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system. If not treated, HIV can lead to AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). HIV currently does not have an effective cure, but with proper treatment, people with HIV can live long, healthy lives and protect their partners.

Opioids refer to a class of drugs that are primarily used to relieve pain. Opioids include legal drugs available by prescription, and illegal drugs like fentanyl and heroin. The opioid epidemic, a significant, rapid increase in opioid use and opioid-related deaths, has impacted Rock County for over a decade.

Rock County's 2021 Community Health Assessment (CHA) represents a point-in-time view of community health and helps identify priority health areas through comprehensive data collection and analysis. The assessment was developed through the Health Equity Alliance of Rock County (HEAR) who uses the data to identify and implement strategies to help the community reach its full health potential. The report is intended to serve as a tool for community members and organizations working to improve Rock County's health.

The Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a long-term, systematic approach to improving community health. The priority areas in the CHIP are based on the results of the most recent Community Health Assessment (CHA) and is updated every three to five years. Similar to the CHA, the Health Equity Alliance of Rock County (HEAR) assisted in the development and implementation of CHIP strategies. Annual updates will be used to communicate progress on CHIP goals and objectives.

The Rock County Food Environment Report is a comprehensive look at food access in Rock County. The report describes how food insecurity impacts Rock County residents and provides recommendations for improving local food access. The report was developed using results from a public survey, an assessment of local grocery stores, and peer-reviewed articles and data.

The Nutrition Collaborative of Rock County (NCRC) is a multi-disciplinary group of individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing food insecurity in Rock County. The NCRC is in its second year of operation and is beginning to implement its first ever strategic plan.
