What are home delivered meals?
Preparing a nutritious meal is one of the more challenging aspects of life for many older people. Rock County Home Delivered Meals is a service that brings hot, nutritionally balanced meals to homebound seniors 60 years of age or older.

Meals are available Monday through Friday. Frozen meals are available upon request for weekends and holidays.


Who qualifies for this program?
You can receive home delivered meals if you are:

  • 60 years of age or older
  • Homebound (unable to leave home under normal circumstances)
  • Unable to obtain and prepare your own meals and have no other adult able to do so
  • A resident of Rock County
  • Spouses of eligible participants may also receive meals regardless of age

How much do meals cost?
The suggested contribution for each meal is $5.00. No eligible person will be denied a meal because of inability to make a contribution.
Funding provided by Title III (Older Americans Act) and donations. ADRC Aging Unit Nutrition Program is an equal opportunity provider.


Are there other benefits to home delivered meals?
Homebound seniors appreciate the social contact with the volunteers bringing their meals and check on their safety and well-being. Volunteers also check on safety and well-being.


What kind of food will I receive?
Each meal will provide a minimum of 1/3 of the recommended daily nutrition for an adult. Each menu is reviewed and approved by a registered dietitian. Meals must provide adequate calcium, vitamins A and C, protein, fat, and carbohydrates. The fat and salt content of each meal is also closely monitored.


Is special diet food available?
The regular meals meet the requirements of the heart healthy diet. Diabetic meals are available upon request.
