Diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects how the body turns food into energy. Diabetes develops when the body doesn't have enough insulin (Type 1), or the body doesn't use insulin properly (Type 2), leading to high blood sugar and other health issues.

Our Work in Action

We work to prevent diabetes by:

  • Providing information at local events and community discussions to improve awareness of prediabetes, diabetes, and available prevention resources
  • Hosting meetings that bring local partners together to share diabetes prevention information and resources
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to accessing diabetes prevention programs, healthy foods, and regular exercise
  • Reviewing local, state, and national diabetes data to inform and improve local efforts
