Rock County Public Health Department is passionate about building an environment where parents feel encouraged to breastfeed* their baby. We want our residents to be empowered and supported in their feeding decision.

How does breastfeeding impact our community?

Breastfeeding can provide positive health benefits and build strong relationships for both the parents and their baby.

 Some beneficial outcomes include:

  • Increased physical and emotional bonding
  • Better sleeping habits for the parents and baby
  • Lower risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • Better memory, language and motor skills for baby
  • Less stress and decrease risk of depression

What is Rock County doing about it?

We work with community organizations and partners to encourage and support those that breastfeed while building an environment that is accepting and respectful of those families.

Current projects include:

  • This training provides education about breastfeeding basics and provides tools to be able to create a welcoming and encouraging space for families who breastfeed.

Restarting the Rock County Breastfeeding Coalition with community partners and residents of Rock County.

  • The Rock County Breastfeeding Coalition is a space to share updates and work together to build a stronger and accepting community.
