A number of Wisconsin counties have established successful Youth in Governance programs as an integral part of their county governments; at least six of such programs are coordinated through University of Wisconsin County Extension Offices. These programs typically enable the participation of young adults in a variety of developmental activities including non-voting participation on select committees. The Rock County Extension Office has indicated a willingness to explore the establishment of a Youth in Governance program in Rock County.

The Rock County Board of Supervisors established an Ad Hoc Youth in Governance Exploratory Committee to work with the Rock County Extension Office to develop specific guidelines for the creation of a Youth in Governance program for Rock County. The Committee is composed of seven members, three of whom shall be Rock County Board Supervisors.

The Ad Hoc Youth in Governance Exploratory Committee shall report back to the Board of Supervisors with its recommendations no later than February 1, April 1, 2024. The Committee shall dissolve upon presentation of this report to the County Board of Supervisors.
