The Rock County Sheriff's Office strongly encourages all boaters to take a Boater Safety Education Course and offers two classes each year.

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1989, is required to complete a Boater Safety Education Course in order to legally operate a motorized boat or personal watercraft (PWC) on Wisconsin waters.

• There is a class fee of $10.00 per student, which is due at the in-person registration meeting.
• The student, and a parent/guardian if the student is not 18 years old, must attend the registration meeting. A parent/guardian will need to sign the registration form in order for the underage student to enroll.

Class size is limited to thirty (30) students. Reserve a seat by completing the form below. If there is no form below there are no classes open. Upon submission of the online enrollment form, the submitter will see an onscreen confirmation message with information on the in-person registration meeting.

Upcoming Boater Safety Classes

The second and final Boater Safety Course of the 2024 season will be held on April 30, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and May 11, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at the Rock County Fairgrounds - Craig Center, 1301 Craig Ave, Janesville, WI 53545. The class is full. Registration is closed.
