Hunter

The Rock County Sheriff's Office is actively engaged in the education of individuals interested in shooting sports by offering four Hunter Education classes each year. The Rock County Sheriff's Office strongly encourages all hunters to take a Hunter Safety Education Course.

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1973, is required to complete a Hunter Safety Education Course in order to legally hunt in Wisconsin. Students must be 12 years old.

  • There is a class fee of $10.00 per student, which is due at the in-person registration meeting.
  • The student, and a parent/guardian if the student is not 18 years old, must attend the registration meeting. A parent/guardian will need to sign the registration form in order for the underage student to enroll.
  • Firearms and ammunition are supplied for use during class.

Class size is limited to twenty-five (25) students. Reserve a seat by completing the form below.  If there is no form below, we do not have any classes currently open. Upon submitting the reservation form, you will receive a confirmation email with information on the in-person registration meeting.

Direct any questions to Recreational Safety Deputy Trevor Lund at 608-373-3816 or trevor.lund@co.rock.wi.us.

The reservation form requires the student's Wisconsin DNR customer ID number. To obtain a DNR customer ID number, call the Wisconsin DNR Hotline at 1-888-936-7463 (daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.). For more information on DNR customer ID numbers, visit GETTING A WISCONSIN DNR CUSTOMER ID NUMBER.
